The house is about 1.5 hrs from the Normandy Beaches and close to many D-Day sites such as the Falaise Gap offering a pleasant day tour for those of you looking to take advantage of the roads and auberges scattered around the area.  

Le Mans is 45 minutes from the house and not only access to the legendary 24hr but the old town with its unique roman walls and mediaeval buildings plus incredible gothic cathedral is worth a visit.  You can choose the speed of the peage or the old roads that move at a slower pace.

Close by in La Mele sur Sarthe about 10 minutes is a plage on the lake great for safe swimming for children and a pleasant place for a picnic.  The area is particularly famous for the huge forests that surround the small towns and villages.  Great for walking , riding and mountain biking.  

Alencon, 20 minutes is a busy market town with great shopping and interesting historical architecture.
